About the Zone

Tucked away on the backside of Squaw, the Shirley zone is an intermediate's paradise. From both the Shirley and Solitude lifts you'll find wall to wall cordurouy, open bowls and wide tree runs. Head to the Solitude lift for a more secluded experience and plenty of low angle off-piste terrain for playing.

Getting Here

There are two ways to get up to Shirley zone. The quickest way starts with a ride up the Funitel from the base area. Once you get to the Gold Coast lodge, put your gear on, head down the Mountain run, and pass Gold Coast Express on your right. Keep heading downhill, staying skiers left to get to Big Blue Express, which is across from Siberia Express. Big Blue Express takes you to the Shirley ridgeline. Get off the lift, head right off the lift, then choose which tree run on your left you'd like to explore. Further down the ridge will put you in the Solitude area, where you'll find fun secluded intermediate terrain.

Local Tips For Shirley

My go to

"Shirley Lake is tucked away on Squaw's backside, where its high altitude and weather exposure assure consistent Pacific-born snow. Usually 4th or 5th tree run is my go to because of the grooming and medium pitch. Shirley is great for quick laps to get your legs warmed up"
