After several days of snow last week into the weekend, we have transitioned into a drier pattern for a couple of days.
That will change by Wednesday as a cold front approaches. Winds will increase on Wednesday as a cold storm approaces from the Northwest.
Christmas Eve into early Christmas morning the cold front sweeps through the Tahoe basin, and the associated precip band will bring a quick shot of heavy snow. We could see 3-6 inches of snow pile up in the village by Christmas morning, and 4-8 inches on the mountain.
Behind the cold front much colder air will settle in for the weekend. We could see a flake or two on Sunday as another cold front drops down from the North reinforcing the cold air.
The colder pattern looks like it could settle in through the New Year.
The next chance for significant snow looks like it could be sometime during the first week of January.
