With Two Feet of New Snow in Seven Days, Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows is Now Open for the 2017-18 Winter Season

[Olympic Valley, Calif] Nov. 17, 2017— Seven inches of snow fell in the last 24 hours at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, totaling two feet of snowfall for the week, right on time for Opening Day. Skiers and riders enjoyed great coverage on Squaw Valley’s upper mountain today via Gold Coast Express, accessed by upload and download on the Gold Coast Funitel. Open terrain included four groomed trails, four features in Gold Coast Park and hike-to access to Siberia ridge. The Aerial Tram will open for the season tomorrow with access to beginner terrain at Mountain Meadow and Bailey’s Beach. Food and beverage will be available at The Arc at Gold Coast, with restroom access only at High Camp. The resort looks forward to opening Alpine Meadows for the season tomorrow with Kangaroo chairlift scheduled with access to Kangaroo Main Run. Early Ups cafe will be open at Alpine Meadows, as well as Last Chair Bar for beverage service only. Current operating hours are 9am – 4pm. Guests are encouraged to download the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows app for the most updated lift and trail offerings.

A portion of every ticket sold today supported the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Foundation (SAF), a non-profit organization that provides scholarships, education and advocacy to support our athletes, coaches and programs in the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows community. Lift ticket proceeds totaled $8,100—thank you to lift ticket holders for supporting the development of this community’s athletic legacy!

Join the Squaw Valley Institute tonight for a special event: Behind the Gold: Winning Traits of Olympic Athletes. Tom Kelly, noted Olympic historian and longtime U.S. Ski Team spokesperson, tells stories of athletic success and how you can translate winning traits into your own personal life or business career will be the focus of this special event. The event will take place in Olympic Village Lodge and admission is free. Doors open at 5:30pm with a keynote address at 6:30pm, followed by public Q&A and meet and greet with local Olympians.
