Warm Saturday, Snow Sunday, Cold Monday

Category: Weather

For Saturday we should see mostly sunny skies and milder temperatures, except for some low clouds hanging near the base early. Highs warming into the 50s. Expecting lighter winds through Saturday morning, with gusts increasing to 40+ mph over the ridges in the afternoon.

Cold Front Sunday:

Sunday we have a strong cold front moving through but with limited moisture. We could see snow showers by late morning through the afternoon, and lingering into the evening before clearing. Snow levels crashing below the base at the start. By Sunday evening we could see 1-3 inches of snow at the base and 2-4 inches on the upper mountain.

Temperatures in the 30s in the morning with colder air moving in during the afternoon. Strong winds over the ridges gusting to 75+ mph Sunday morning, likely closing some upper mountain lifts. Then dropping to 60+ mph during the afternoon, and to 40+ mph by the evening.

The Week Ahead:

Sunny and dry weather expected through next week as high pressure builds back in off the CA coast. It's cold Monday with highs only in the 20s, and brisk northeast winds gusting to 30+ mph up top making it feel even colder.

Lighter winds and warming temps through the rest of the week. Highs into the 30s Tuesday, 40s Wednesday-Thursday, and 50's possibly at the base by Friday.

We could see another shot of colder air and snow showers next weekend as another cold front moves through from the north around Saturday night. That could bring a few inches of fresh snow and some colder temperatures by next Sunday.

The long-range models keep us in a drier pattern the week of the 10th, but they begin to shift the ridge away from the coast by mid-month. That possibly bring a more active pattern. We will continue to watch the long-range to see if we could finally see some decent storms by mid-month and beyond.
