Friday - Saturday:
Expecting mostly sunny skies Friday and Saturday. Highs in the 30s. We have gusty east winds with gusts of 30-40 mph across the ridges Friday, and turning north Saturday..
An area of low pressure tracks down the CA coast Sunday into Monday. The latest model runs bring it close enough to spread light snow into the Sierra by Sunday afternoon and clearing out by Monday morning. We could see light snow move in between 1-4 PM on Sunday and last through Monday night.
By Monday morning we could see 3-5 inches of new snow on the mountain, and 2-4 inches at the base. Highs in the 30s for Sunday. Gusty winds with mountain top gusts to 40+ mph from the southwest.
Monday - Thursday:
Any snow showers Monday morning should clear out with clearing skies Monday. It's still cold with highs in the 20s on the upper mountain and 30s at the base, with gusty east winds up to 40+ mph up top.
Tuesday through Thursday high pressure builds in with highs in the 30s and lighter winds. At the base, we could warm to near 40 degrees. Expecting sunny skies and beautiful weather for the New Year's holiday.
The pattern may begin to transition the weekend of the 3rd-5th. Some long-range models have a storm, while others keep the storm track to our north through the weekend.
It looks like we could transition to a more active pattern going into the week of the 6th.
