Storm Moving in by Tonight with Snow into Thursday Night

Category: Weather
Storm Day:

Increasing clouds and winds today with highs in the 30's on the mountain and 40's at the base.

Mountain top winds are already hitting 70-80 mph this morning so expect upper mountain lifts to be closed today.

This morning you can already see the next storm approaching

This evening into Thursday evening a cold storm will move through. This one looks similar to the storm last Thursday, except that we should start as snow at the base.

We could see 4-8 inches at the base by Thursday morning, and 6-12 inches on the mountain. Behind this storm high temps drop into the 20's for Thursday.

After a break Thursday morning, we should see snow showers drop several more inches of snow on the mountain Thursday afternoon and evening. We could see an additional 3-5 inches of snow from the snow showers by Friday morning.

That could bring storm totals to 7-13 inches at the base and 9-17 inches on the mountain. We will have to watch where the heaviest snow showers setup Thursday evening.

The Weekend:

For the weekend high pressure builds in with dry weather and temperatures warming.  Expect mostly sunny skies through the weekend.

We start colder on Friday with highs in the 20's on the mountain and 30's at the base, then into the 30's on the mountain and 40's at the base Saturday, and 40's for all elevations by Sunday.

High pressure continues to build in near the West Coast through next week. That should keep storms to our North and East next week.

High pressure may stay in place over the West Coast into the 2nd week of February continuing to bring us a dry weather pattern.

There is a chance that the ridge of high pressure shifts further North, eventually allowing storms into CA by the 2nd week of February.
