Today into Saturday
Cold, windy, and snowy today as the storm moves through. The snow started to fall around 6 a.m. Temperatures will be in the 30's and winds will be gusty with gusts over 70 mph on the mountain tops. That will cause lift closures on the upper mountain today.
The snow showers continue tonight into Saturday before tapering off by Saturday afternoon. The winds should drop off on Saturday so we could see the lifts opening again. Gusts may drop off to around 35 mph. Temperatures drop into the 20's tonight into Saturday.
The snow showers behind the front tonight could bring more snow than we see during the day today. The storm today is splitting apart more this morning on the forecast models, so we are expecting 2-4 inches today, and then 4-7 inches tonight. We could see a couple inches Saturday morning before the snow tapers off. Storm totals by Saturday afternoon could be around 5-8 inches at the base, and 8-13 inches on the mountain.
Sunday - Monday
Sunday and Monday the sun comes out but it stays cold. Highs Saturday through Monday should stay in the 20's.
Tuesday - Friday
As high pressure builds in we start to warm into the 40's starting Tuesday through the end of the week. We should stay dry through Friday with lots of sun.
New Years Weekend
The forecast models are still in disagreement, but the next chance for a storm looks to be either New Years Eve or New Years Day. 2 of the 3 major forecast models have a storm next weekend while the other stalls the storm over the Pacific keeping us dry. We will be watching the trend all week.
