It has been snowing since around 4 a.m. this morning and the snow has been piling up all morning. We are expecting up to 15 inches of snow by the time the showers taper off tonight.
Winds have been an issue this morning with gusts to 60 mph. Those should come down a little this afternoon with gusts to 30-40 mph.
Big Storm on the Way
We will have a break Tuesday into Wednesday but it stays cold with highs in the 20's on the mountain. Winds should become strong again by Wednesday afternoon ahead of the next storm.
Snow moves in by Wednesday night with a strong cold front bringing heavy snowfall for Thursday. Winds should be an issue Thursday. Another wave rotating in Thursday night into Friday should keep the snowfall going. A third wave rotating in Friday night into Saturday should continue to keep the snowfall going and then finall tapering off by Saturday night.
This is a cold storm so we are expecting this to bring light and powdery snow, especially Friday into Saturday. We are expecting 3-4 feet of snow on the mountain by Saturday night in total from the 3 day storm, about a foot+ per day. Hoping the winds will come down enough Friday into Saturday to have all the lifts open.
It looks like we will have a break in the stormy weather Sunday through Tuesday next week. The next storm could move in by next Wednesday, but some forecast models slow its arrival until later in the week.
