[Olympic Valley, Calif.] November 2, 2015 – 8 inches of snow fell today at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, with showers expected to continue into this evening and a chance of more snow Tuesday. With a forecast calling for cold temperatures overnight and through the week, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows’ experienced snowmaking staff plans to initiate snowmaking tonight after weeks of preparation and testing. Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows will continue to make snow at every opportunity to prepare for Squaw Valley Opening Day on November 25 and Alpine Meadows Opening Day on December 11.
Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows has invested $8 million in snowmaking over the last five years, and this year will engage 17 new high efficiency snowmaking guns to provide a quality snow surface for the 2015-16 ski and ride season. These efforts will supplement the natural snowfall from what is forecast to be an above average winter season.
Skiers and riders looking to take full advantage of this season’s snowfall can purchase the Tahoe Super Pass starting at $429 for adults, and gain access to 6,000 acres, 42 lifts and over 270 trails at both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. While supplies last, Tahoe Super Pass Silver and Gold passholders will receive the Worry Free Guarantee: those who don’t ski or ride at least five days on this season’s pass will be credited up to four days towards their 2016-17 pass.
