[Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows, Calif.] May 12, 2015 – Squaw Valley Ski Holdings, LLC today confirmed plans to upgrade the Siberia Express chairlift this summer in an effort to enhance the on-mountain guest experience for the 2015-16 winter season and beyond. Plans include replacing the Siberia Express, currently a high-speed quad, with a high-speed six-passenger chairlift designed to improve reliability, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.

“Our team is committed to continually enhancing the mountain experience at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, and providing our guests with access not only to the best skiing and riding in Tahoe, but to an incredible recreational experience in an iconic destination,” said president and CEO of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings, LLC, the parent company of Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows mountain resorts. “Upgrading the Siberia Express lift to a high-speed six-passenger chairlift is guaranteed to have a positive impact on the skier experience on the upper mountain at Squaw. In addition, the lift has been designed in a way that will improve its ability to operate during inclement weather.”

The Siberia Express chairlift is one of the most popular lifts at Squaw Valley, and is used primarily by intermediate and advanced level skiers and riders to access terrain including Siberia Bowl, Mainline and the Mainline Terrain Park, as well as the sprawling Gold Coast area. The lift will be replaced in its same location during the summer, and will open during the 2015-16 winter season.

With yet further lift improvements and the introduction of the new “worry-free guarantee,” Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows is making it easier than ever for skiers and snowboarders to commit to the purchase of next winter’s season pass. The “worry-free guarantee” includes the ability for 2015-16 Gold or Silver Tahoe Super Pass holders to roll over up to four unused days during the 2015-16 winter season for credit toward the purchase of a 2016-17 Tahoe Super Pass. Gold or Silver 2015-16 Tahoe Super Passes must be purchased by May 14, 2015 to take advantage of the “worry-free guarantee.”
