The latest forecast model runs show precipitation moving into the Sierra Sunday morning around 9-10 a.m. Light-moderate snow is expected Sunday into Sunday evening before tapering off. Snow levels drop to near the base Sunday morning as the snow starts. Winds Sunday could continue to gust to 70+ mph up top affecting upper mountain lift operations.
The latest forecast model runs are slightly wetter through Sunday evening. We could see 3-5 inches at the base, and 5-10 inches on the mountain by Monday morning. We could see some rain in the village until cold air works in during the afternoon.
Monday - Christmas Day:
Monday through Wednesday could be cold and snow showery as weak splitting systems move through CA. Expecting partly cloudy skies with a chance for snow showers each day. Highs in the 30s at the base and 20s on the mountain. Only expecting a dusting to an inch of snow at best each day right now.
Thursday into Next Weekend:
High pressure builds in Thursday into next weekend bumping the storm track to the north. We may also warm into the 30s for highs on the mountain by next weekend. Expecting sunny skies and nice weather.
Going into the end of the month and the first week of January, we may see a cold-ish and drier pattern with only a chance for very weak systems if any.
We will be watching for any pattern changes that could bring bigger storms in January.
