We picked up 7 inches of snow as of 6 a.m. down to the base as the storm is just getting started. The winds have increased up top to around 90 mph with temperatures in the 20's. So we are seeing some lift closures today, check the schedule of what is running.
Expecting winds to continue to increase today with ridge top wind gusts up to 100 mph. That should keep most of the upper mountain lifts closed today. Those winds will continue tonight but should drop in half Friday, so we are hoping to get the lifts spinning at some point tomorrow morning. We will also have to deal with digging out the lifts and avalanche control.
Heavy snowfall is expected today with another foot+ expected on the mountain. That continues tonight but with colder air and higher snow ratios. That could bring another 2 feet overnight. For Friday we are expected lighter snowfall rates, but several more inches could accumulate. Then Friday night a 3rd wave of heavier snowfall moves through and could drop another foot of snow. Lingering snow showers into Saturday could add a few more inches. In total we are still expecting 3-5 feet of snow from this storm by Saturday night.
Sunday - Tuesday
The storm clears out for Sunday with sun and temperatures in the 20's. We warm into the 30's for Monday and Tuesday, and maybe near 40 in the Village.
The Next Storm
There is another storm spinning off the coast by Tuesday. It will slowly work its way towards CA. The forecast models disagree when it may push inland. Expecting it to move in sometime between Wednesday and Friday. This storm could start with high snow levels and then they drop as colder air moves in. We could see a decent amount of snow on the mountain. We will look at this storm in more detail after we get through this one.
