We saw a light dusting of snow on the upper half of the mountain yesterday (Wednesday) from a weak weather system that moved through. Today another storm is moving into Northern CA. This storm is colder and has more precipitation expected.
The snow is expected to begin to fall this afternoon and will into the night before tapering off in the early morning hours. We may see 2-4 inches at the base of Squaw and Alpine by Friday morning, and 3-6 inches of snow on the upper half of the mountains.
Another storm will move into the region off of the Pacific Ocean Friday night into Saturday. This storm is expected to be a little warmer with snow falling on the upper half of the mountains. We could see another 3-6 inches of snow above 7000 ft. on the mountains by Saturday night.
On Sunday high pressure builds back in and sunny skies will return for Thanksgiving week. We are tracking a storm that may move in the day after Thanksgiving into the weekend. The forecast models are split on whether or not we see a storm so stay tuned.
