Rain & Snow This Weekend, Stormy Weather Continues Next Week

Category: Weather
Snowfall Report:

We picked up an inch of snow on the mountain overnight as the next storm started to move in early this morning.  It is continuing to snow this morning.

Weekend Storm:

The heaviest snow is expected during the day on Saturday, with lighter snow showers Saturday night into Sunday before the storm clears out Sunday night.  Snow levels should be to the base through Saturday morning but may rise above the base to 6,500-7,000 feet Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning with some rain showers at the base.  Then possibly back to the base by Sunday evening.  Winds don't look to be as strong with this storm with gusts of 45-50 mph up top through the weekend.

We could see 4-8 inches at the base Saturday before a change to rain.  On the mountain above 7,000 feet we could see 8-12 inches Saturday, 1-3 inches Saturday night, 3-5 inches Sunday, and a final 1-2 inches on Sunday night.  That would give us a storm total of 13-22 inches on the mountain by Monday morning.

Midweek Storm:

We will see a break on Monday with sun, light winds, and highs in the 30's on the mountain to 40 at the base.

Then the next storm pushes in by later Tuesday and could last through Thursday.  Snow levels could hover just above the base around 6,500' through Wednesday before falling behind a cold front Wednesday night into Thursday. This storm has the potential to drop another 10-20 inches of snow on the mountain Tuesday night through Thursday, and 5-10 inches at the base once the rain changes to snow.

A weak system moving through CA on Friday could bring scattered light snow showers.  Temperatures Thursday into Friday could be colder with highs only in the 20's on the mountain and 30's at the base.

We may see a break in the storms the weekend of the 9th as the next storm cuts off well of the CA coast.  Then we could see some colder storms push into Northern CA the week of the 11th.

The active pattern could continue through mid-month.
