OVERVIEW OF TODAY'S OPERATIONS: FEBRUARY 23, 2017

Last night we received another 5" at Squaw Valley and 4" at Alpine Meadows. That brings us to a total of 90" at upper elevations in the past 7 days! Crews continued work on de-icing, digging and repairing lifts as well as setting up additional terrain. Check out yesterday's blog for a recap of the buried lifts, derailments and other challenges we faced with the most recent storm.

At Squaw Valley, KT-22, Red Dog, Squaw Creek, Exhibition, Far East, the Funitel and the Tram opened first thing. Big Blue, Gold Coast and Tower 16 terrain opened shortly after, followed by Belmont, Mountain Meadow and Shirley Lake. Siberia opened at 12:30pm as soon as patrol finished setup and obstacle markings. The Palisades opened at 1:30pm!

At Alpine Meadows, Summit, Roundhouse, Hot Wheels, Meadow, Yellow, Scott, Kangaroo, Subway and the carpets opened at 9am or shortly after. Sherwood opened at 11am. Conditions were top-notch with plenty of powder, especially in the Pacific Crest North & South Bowls.

PROJECTED OPERATIONS FOR TOMORROW, FEBRUARY 24

According to the National Weather Service forecast, tomorrow will be partly sunny with highs in the 20s. The snow should still be cold, chalky and fun!

Squaw Valley

Squaw Valley has 25 lifts on tomorrow's schedule. In addition to what we ran today, Broken Arrow, Emigrant, Granite Chief, Headwall and Silverado have been added to the schedule. These lifts may be delayed as our crews finish digging, repairs and terrain setup in these zones. Please stay tuned to the app, the lift & grooming status, and Mountain Ops Twitter feed for real-time updates tomorrow morning and throughout the day.  Solitude is still being dug out and should be added to Saturday's schedule along with Squaw One and Olympic Lady.

Alpine Meadows

The Alpine Meadows team is geared up to run all 13 lifts tomorrow. Staff is still working to dig out Alpine Bowl Chair and Lakeview Chair, so they may open with delays. Please stay tuned for updates!
