We have seen cool dry weather over the past week that has allowed for snowmaking at night on the mountains. That has allowed enough terrain to be covered to get the mountain open this weekend with Kangaroo spinning at Alpine and the beginner area at Squaw.
The weather remains sunny and cool into early next week. Highs in the low 50's at the base and overnight lows in the 20's. That will allow for additional snowmaking at night.
We have been watching the Thanksgiving Holiday very closely for the past week as forecast models continue to show the possibility of storms.
The models are not in agreement on the details, but they show the possibility of 2-3 storms hitting between Thanksgiving and the weekend. These storms have the potential to bring the first measurable snowfall of the season to the mountains.
We will continue to watch closely as we get closer. I will begin posting the forecast more often as we closer as well. Once we have a clearer picture of what might happen over the next few days, I'll start to forecast some early snowfall and snow level estimates.
