[Olympic Valley, Calif.] November 25, 2015 – Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows has much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, with the most recent storm bringing a foot of snow to its peaks, allowing for new terrain in time for Thanksgiving Day. Squaw Valley will open Squaw Creek chair on Thanksgiving Day, offering access to intermediate terrain on Lake View trail and increasing Squaw Valley’s terrain to ten trails and ten lifts. The Aerial Tram at Squaw Valley will provide sightseeing access to High Camp, including the Olympic Ice Pavilion, from 11:00am – 4:00pm. Snow tubing is also open at the SnoVentures Activity Zone at the base area of Squaw Valley from 11:00am – 4:00pm.

Alpine Meadows plans to open Roundhouse Express on Friday, November 27, with access to intermediate terrain on Rock Garden, Dance floor, Summit run out and Roundhouse run out. Roundhouse will join Kangaroo chair which is currently running with access to intermediate terrain on Nick’s Run and Kangaroo Main Run.

“I am absolutely elated by the roaring start we’ve had to the season here at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows,” said president and CEO of the resort. “In the spirit of the season, I offer a sincere thank you to our entire staff that has worked tirelessly to provide the best possible terrain and experience to our guests, and of course a big tip of the hat to Godzilla El Niño, who is proving to be a good friend so far this season.”

The current storm has increased the cumulative snowfall for the 2015-16 season to over four feet, and low temperatures have allowed for the resort to maximize its large snowmaking system, which has seen $8 million in upgrades over the last five years.

Thanksgiving visitors can take advantage of a full roster of events for the holiday weekend including a two night premiere of Warren Miller’s “Chasing Shadows” movie, the Welcome to Winter Party featuring special deals for season passholders, and a special announcement about the Base-to-Base Gondola that will connect Squaw Valley with Alpine Meadows.

Squaw Valley Ski & Snowboard School will offer group ski and snowboard lessons for kids and adults, in addition to private lessons available by reservation. Private lessons are also available by reservation only at Alpine Meadows. Visit the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Ski & Snowboard Lessons page for more information.
