Some light snow showers are moving through this morning. We have picked up a coating to an inch of snow on the mountain. We should see some sun this afternoon and Thursday with highs in the 30's to low 40's at the base. Winds will gust to around 30 mph on the mountain tops.
Friday morning snow moves in along with stronger winds in excess of 65 mph up top. We should have snow falling all day and into Friday night. Then on Saturday we will should have some lingering snow showers and much colder air.
The storm is showing signs of possibly splitting and pushing the heaviest precip into Southern CA Friday night. The current forecast would bring 10-15 inches of snow to the base and 15-20 inches to the upper mountain by Saturday. We will have to watch the trend to see if the numbers have to be adjusted down if the storm splits Friday night.
Post Storm into Next Week
The sun comes out Sunday but the highs Saturday and Sunday should only be in the 20's. Next week we have a chance for light snow Monday and again Tuesday night. But overall we may have drier weather with a break in the storms. Highs should be in the 30's the first half of the week, and then warming the 2nd half.
New Years Weekend
Another cold trough may try to push into the West New Years weekend. The next chance for a storm looks like it could be around New Years Day.
