[Olympic Valley, Calif.] April 15, 2019 –Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows is the perfect place to celebrate Easter with family this season, surrounded by mountains views and with lots to do. The new Easter Brunch and Egg Hunt at Squaw Valley joins the classic Beacon & Eggs event at Alpine Meadows on Easter Sunday. Saturday, April 20 will feature the annual Snow Golf tournament at Alpine Meadows and the Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Festival in The Village at Squaw Valley.
For the early risers, there will be an Easter Service at High Camp at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 21. Take the Aerial Tram up to 8,200 ft. for a non-denominational Easter Service with music by Tim Foster.
Easter Brunch will be held in the Olympic House, with vistas of Squaw Valley’s towering mountains, a bountiful buffet and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Start the day off with the opulent Grand Marnier French toast, or the decadent Lox Bar; a variety of smoked fishes to pair with an assortment of bagels, cream cheese and toppings. The classic shrimp cocktail gets dressed up for the occasion with the addition of charred octopus to the dish. Brunch standards like scrambled eggs and frittatas, slow-roasted prime rib, Cherrywood smoked bacon and chicken apple sausage round out the stepped-up buffet.
Adults will receive one complementary mimosa, and an Easter-themed cocktail menu will be available for purchase, along with other drinks at the cash bar. There will be two brunch seatings: 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., with limited space at each event—reservations are strongly suggested. The brunch is $65 for adults and $25 for kids. Brunch will be followed by an Easter Egg Hunt on the KT deck overlooking Cushing Pond.
The annual Snow Golf tournament returns to Alpine Meadows on Saturday, April 20 for its 35th year. The nine-hole course starts at the top of Alpine Bowl—with the perfect view of Lake Tahoe from the tee box—before winding down the entire length of the mountain and back up to the base of the Alpine Bowl Chair. Golf clubs and tennis balls are provided, and registration is free. This year, the best Caddyshack-themed costume will win a prize.
Ikon Passholder Appreciation Party at Alpine Meadows
After Snow Golf wraps up, don’t miss the Ikon Passholder Appreciation Party on the Main Lodge Sun Deck at Alpine Meadows. A passholder raffle with prizes from YETI, GoPro, Oakley and more kicks off at 11 a.m., followed by live music starting at 2:30 p.m. In addition to drink specials on the sun deck, Ikon passholders also get 30 percent off food at Meadows Café and The Chalet all day.
Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Festival
The Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Festival is a free, community event that takes place on Saturday, April 20 in the Village at Squaw Valley, and gives kids and adults the opportunity to learn about recycling, composting, alternative energy and sustainability through hands-on activities the whole family can enjoy. In addition to music and dance performances, the highlight of the afternoon is the “Trashion Show,” a fashion show run by local students to educate the audience about environmental issues with corresponding styles created with recycled materials.
Beacon & Eggs
If searching for eggs around the house on Easter is too easy, come put your navigation skills to the test with the Beacons & Eggs contest on Sunday, April 21. Search for prizes under the snow using avalanche transceivers, a fun way to highlight the importance of avalanche education and practice using these life-saving tools.
Spring Ticket Trio
New this season, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows introduced the Spring Ticket Trio, which includes three all-ages lift tickets good for any three days. You can use all three yourself, or share a ticket or two with friends or family members. The Spring Ticket Trio is only available online and saves guests $76 per day on each lift ticket.
