Owners of Tahoe City Sushi to open up new location in The Village at Squaw Valley this June

[Olympic Valley, Calif.] May 5, 2017 – A new sushi restaurant, Suko Yama Sushi, will open its doors for summer 2017. Located on the east end of in The Village at Squaw Valley, Suko Yama Sushi plans to celebrate a grand opening in early June, 2017 in the space previously occupied this season by the pop-up Mtn Roots Café and by Mamasake in the previous years. Local owners Vanessa and Richard Fielder also operate Tahoe City Sushi in Tahoe City, CA.

“We can't wait to join the Squaw Village family, and we are confident that the community will love our menu,” said Vanessa Fielder. “The food at Suko Yama Sushi will be unique: fresh fish delivered and cut daily, organic vegetables, and everything made to order from scratch. We are very proud to serve California style sushi!”

Owners Vanessa and Richard Fielder are both full full-time chefs for Tahoe City Sushi and Suko Yama Sushi. Both born and raised in California, the couple has owned restaurants together for 12 years.

“The primary goal of our search was to find a restauranteur that could bring inspired sushi back to The Village at Squaw Valley: Vanessa and Richard are an ideal match for this community because of their talent as chefs, innovative sushi rolls and their love for Tahoe and our community.  They bring with them years of experience operating both locally and regionally,” said Deb Hoyer, director of commercial properties. “We warmly welcome them to the village and look forward to a busy and fun summer season.”

Suko Yama Sushi will serve signature items like home-made crab and shrimp cakes and soft shell crab “Spider” rolls. The menu will also feature noodles, tempura, teriyaki, and katsu.
