Light High Elevation Snow Tuesday, Heavier All Elevation Snow Thursday

Category: Weather

Today we have clouds increasing. Upper mtn winds will start to pick up by afternoon, with gusts to 40+ mph. High temperatures in the 50's at the base, but may cool a few degrees into the 40's on the upper mountain.

Tuesday Storm

For Tuesday we have a very weak system moving through. That will bring some cooler air with high temps only in the 40's at the base and 30's on the mountain.

This weak system could dust the mountains with some snow above 8,000 feet, with maybe up to an inch. Winds will be gusting to 50+ mph on the mountain tops.

Quick Break Wednesday

Wednesday we may have a short break with some sun and highs in the 40's.  The winds could still be gusty on the mountain with one storm departing and another approaching. By late Wednesday ridge top winds could start to approach 90+ mph.

Thursday Storm

By Thursday afternoon a strong cold front moves in with heavy snow ahead of and with the front, and showers behind it. The heaviest snow should fall Thursday afternoon into Thursday night and taper off to showers for Friday.

Snow levels start above 8,000 feet but fall during the day Thursday down to 7000 feet by evening and below the base early Thursday night.

By the time we total it up Saturday morning we could have totals of 9-14 inches at the base, 10-15 inches above 7,000 feet, and 13-19+ inches above 8,000 feet.

Weekend Storm

Friday into Saturday we start to clear out but with cold air behind the storm with some scattered snow showers possible on Friday.. High temperatures may only be in the 30's at the base and 20's up on the mountain.

It looks like the next storm could move in as early as next Sunday/Sunday night. This storm looks to have low snow levels and could tap into some significant moisture. We have to watch to see how much moisture it could bring in.

The storm door could remain open through the end of the month with more storms moving in the week of the 22nd.
