[Olympic Valley, Calif.] September 15, 2016 – Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, the only major Tahoe resort to remain open through May 30 last season will be the first major resort in Tahoe to open for 2016-17, looking to once again host Tahoe’s longest season. Following the region’s first snow fall, the resort will bump up opening day from November 23 to fall within the window of November 11 and 18, weather and conditions permitting. Following the earliest opening in over a decade in the 2015-16 season largely thanks to early season snowmaking efforts, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows has invested over $1 million in snowmaking enhancements for 2016-17, adding to a total of $9 million over six years. The resort now boasts a total of 317 snowmaking guns with a fully automated system at Squaw Valley and upgraded infrastructure as well as two new state-of-the-art grooming cats at Alpine Meadows. Once the snowmaking system is fired up for the 2016-17 season, the snowmaking team at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows will operate around the clock to prepare to open between November 11 and 18.

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows hosted Tahoe’s longest season in 2015-16, with over 41 feet of cumulative snowfall, and was voted 2016 Best Ski Resort in North America by USA Today and 10Best Readers’ Choice. Skiers and riders looking for season-long access can purchase the 2016-17 Tahoe Super Pass starting at $469 for adults and gain access to 6,000 acres, 42 lifts and over 270 trails. Tahoe Super Pass Silver and Gold passholders also get access to Sierra-at-Tahoe and Sugar Bowl, with Gold passholders receiving 50% off at all Mountain Collective Resorts.

The Tahoe Super 4 Pack is now available for those looking for four days of unrestricted skiing and riding. Packholders ski any day, with no blackout dates, for just $83 per day.
