Winds will start to pick up today and could gust up to 100 mph over the ridge by tomorrow morning ahead of the storms arrival. We are expecting the heavy precip to push in by Friday evening and last into the day on Saturday.
Snow levels will start out around 7500 feet before possibly rising to 8000 feet Friday night. Saturday morning they may fall down to 7000 feet before the heavy precip moves out leaving us with lighter showers. We could see 15-20 inches of snow above 8000 feet by Saturday afternoon, and several inches down to 7000 feet.
We will have a break Saturday night into Sunday before the next storm moves in. Snow levels will rise ahead of the arrival of the next storm but will fall to around 8000 feet Sunday night as the storm moves in, and then down close to the base level Monday morning before the storm ends by afternoon.
We could see similar amounts of snow with this system above 8000 feet, so storm totals by Monday evening could be around 2-3 feet above 8000 feet on the mountain. Below that we could see several inches down to 7000 feet, and even a few inches could be possible down to the base level Monday morning.
Starting next Tuesday quiet weather will return and last into President's weekend. The following week of the 16th the long-range models are hinting at more storm pushing into CA. Fingers crossed...
