Here Comes the Snow

Category: Weather
Monday:

Sun and clouds for Monday with gusty winds. Highs in the 30s. Winds gusting up to 40+ mph on the upper mountain.

The Storm:

The next storm moves in by Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night. This is a cold storm with high snow ratios of up to 20:1 on the upper mountain that will bring powdery snow. The latest forecast models show enough precipitation to bring 18-24 inches of snow to the upper mountain by Wednesday morning, and 12-18 inches at the base.

An area of low pressure forms along the CA coast Wednesday and moves south and then through southern CA Thursday. That will continue snow showers Wednesday becoming more scattered through Thursday night. We should start to clear out completely on Friday.

It remains cold with highs on the mountain continuing to be in the 20s Wed-Fri. Winds gusting to 60+ mph Tuesday into Wednesday morning up top, coming down some on Wednesday and then lighter for Thursday. High snowfall ratios continue as well. We could see 3-6 inches of additional snowfall Wednesday and 2-5 inches depending on where snow showers fall Wednesday night - Thursday night.

Be advised that the snow and wind will impact holiday travel Tuesday through Thursday, especially with the powdery snow that will easily blow around.

Long-Range:

It looks like we start to dry out Friday into Saturday. The next storm is off the coast by Saturday. Some forecast models push in more snow Saturday night into Sunday while others keep the system off the coast through the weekend. We will watch closely to see if we could see more snow over the weekend.

If the storm stalls off the coast, it should move in next week followed by another storm behind that. So the pattern could remain active through the first week of December.
