[Olympic Valley, Calif.] August 28, 2018 – On September 7th, The Village at Squaw Valley will host a chicken wings and music competition—Guitar Strings Vs. Chicken Wings where six Village restaurants and six local Tahoe bands will face off for ultimate bragging rights for “Best Wings” and “Best Band.” In addition to eternal bragging rights, winners of the “Best Wing” competition will be awarded the Wing vs. Wing Championship Trophy, and the “Best Band” will win $500.
Each restaurant entrant will cook their signature recipes for flavor packed chicken wings and will be joined with the region’s best bands to crank the contest to the max. All proceeds from this delicious event benefit the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science, a non-profit organization that seeks to advance the natural history, conservation, and ecosystem knowledge of the Tahoe region through science, education, and outreach. TINS’ education programs benefit more than 6,800 students each year. In 2017, Guitar Strings Vs. Chicken Wings raised nearly $5,000 for the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science. The competitions will take place on Friday, September 7th from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
“We’re so excited to showcase the talents of our fellow restaurants in the Village, and welcome some of our favorite Tahoe musicians to join us as well,” said Caroline Ross, executive director of the Squaw Village Neighbourhood Company. “This delicious event is a great way for locals and visitors to experience a fun competition and rocking music set against a breathtaking mountain backdrop.”
