Fresh Inch of Snow, More for Thursday

Category: Weather
Flakes falling this morning on Solitude Chair
Today:

We picked up a fresh inch of snow overnight on the mountain from snow showers moving through.

This morning we still have snow showers falling on the mountains but not expecting much more accumulation. We should clear out this afternoon.

Wind gusts this morning on the mountain tops are hitting 60 mph.  We are expecting gusty winds today so watch lift operations.  High temps in the 30's.

A Break:

Tuesday we could see some sun with highs in the 30's on the mountains and 40's at the base.

Increasing clouds Wednesday with highs in the 30's on the mountains and 40's at the base.

Mountain top winds becoming quite strong by Wednesday afternoon hitting 75+ mph.

Next Storm:

Wednesday evening into Thursday evening another storm will move through.  This one looks similar to the storm last Thursday, except that we should start as snow at the base.

The forecast models have trended a little drier today.  We could see 4-8 inches at the base by Thursday morning, and 6-12 inches on the mountain.

Behind this storm high temps drop into the 20's Thursday and maybe only teens for the upper mountain.

We could see snow showers drop several more inches of snow on the mountain Thursday afternoon and evening.  Possibly another 3-5 inches for Friday morning.

The Weekend:

For the weekend high pressure builds in with dry weather and temperatures warming back near seasonal averages.

We start cold on Friday with highs in the 20's on the mountain and 30's at the base, then into the 30's on the mountain and 40's at the base Saturday, and 40's for all elevations Sunday.

Long-Range:

We may see a slight cool down going through the week of the 29th.  The storm track may stay just to our East but we could get brushed by a couple storms.
