The storm yesterday performed pretty much as expected with Alpine picking up the high end of the forecast at 10 inches, and Squaw picking up a bit more with a foot of new snow on the upper mountain! The base picked up 6-7 inches of new snow. The season totals are now at 141-146 inches for the upper mountain which is around 125% of average for the date!
Monday - Christmas Day:
Monday through Wednesday will be cold and snow showery as weak systems move through CA. The best chance for accumulating snow looks to be Monday with 1-4 inches of new snow possible by Tuesday morning, and again on Wednesday with a dusting to an inch possible.
Highs in the 30s at the base and 20s on the mountain. Expecting light east winds on Monday, and then light southwest winds Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday is the best chance to see some peeks of sun with only scattered snow showers expected.
Thursday into Next Weekend:
High pressure builds in Thursday into the weekend bumping us a drier pattern. We may also warm into the 30s for highs on the mountain for the weekend. Expecting sunny skies and nice weather into Sunday.
There is the chance for another weak system Sunday night that could bring a dusting of snow.
Going into the end of the month and the first week of January, we may see a drier pattern with little chance for any storms.
We will be watching for any pattern changes that could bring bigger storms in January.
