Wednesday - Friday:
Expecting mostly sunny skies through Friday, with some clouds possibly increasing Friday. Highs into the 40s up top & 50s at the base. Light winds for Wednesday, and then winds could increase again Thursday into Friday ahead of the next storm. Ridgetop gusts to 60+ mph by Thursday evening continuing through Friday, possibly affecting some upper mountain lift operations.
The next system moves in early Saturday morning. We could see snow showers through the day on Saturday and becoming more scattered Saturday night. Snow levels below the base. Highs dropping into the 30s.
The forecast models are still not in agreement on total precipitation amounts. Using the current average we could see 2-4 inches of snow on the mountain by Saturday night, and 1-2 inches at the base.
Sunday - Tuesday:
Temperatures stay colder Sunday through Tuesday, in the 30s on the mountain to near 40 at the bae for highs. A system sitting off the coast could stream clouds and some moisture into the area during the 3-day period. That will bring the chance for scattered snow showers at times over the mountain if the moisture is able to reach the Sierra.
The system off the coast will move into CA next Wed - Fri bringing the chance for rain & snow on the mountains. We will fine-tune the timing and amounts as we get closer.
The pattern may remain active through the 3rd week of March with another storm possible for the weekend of the 14th and more the week of the 16th.
