Colder Weekend, Snow Arrives Sunday

Category: Weather
Last Mild Day

Sunny and breezy today with highs in the mid 40's. Winds on the mountain tops could gust to around 35 mph.

First Cold Shot

Saturday colder air moves in with highs in the 30's. A storm will spin down to our West. We could see a flake or two Friday night into Saturday morning with a dusting at best.

Arctic Shot, with Snow

Sunday a cold trough pushes in from the North. Even colder air moves in with highs in the 20's. The winds will be gusty so wind chills will be even colder. We will have to watch for some wind holds.

Sunday night through Tuesday low pressure slowly moves down the West Coast. That could bring a steady light snow with high snow ratios for 2.5 days. Totals could start to pile up.  Based on the latest model runs we could see 1-2 feet by Wednesday morning at the base, and 2-3 feet on the mountain.

The track of the low and how much moisture it can pull in is critical to snowfall amounts.  We will adjust the forecast daily if it changes.

After the Storm

We may have a break Wednesday through Friday, but the air stays cold all of next week. Highs remain in the teens on the mountain and 20's at the base all week.  Wind chills could be even colder so bundle up.

We could see some stronger storms break in starting around the 8th of January into the week of the 9th.
