Colder air has started pushing in from the Northeast as a cold trough tries to backup into the Sierra from the East. Low pressure will form over the Sierra to our South on Sunday. That will help to drive in more cold air and possibly a dusting of snow.
The winds will pick up for Sunday and Monday as the low pressure sits to our South. High temperatures will only be in the 20's on the mountains with winds of 25-35 mph, so the wind chills will make it feel even colder.
The temperatures will warm slightly this week as the system slides to the East, but still cool with highs in the 30's on the mountain.
Next Weekend another cold trough will drop down from the North. We could see another shot of colder air and a chance for some light snow.
This may be the new pattern for a couple of weeks as the ridge of high pressure responsible for the warm and dry conditions sits off the coast, and allows some colder air to drop down from the North. In order to pickup more significant snow we will need one of the storms to track further West near the coast and pick up more moisture.
