The cold system that moved through Sunday afternoon/evening dropped 2-3 inches of fresh snow on the mountain. Just as we were expecting. Much colder air moved in overnight with lows into the single digits this morning.
The Week Ahead:
Sunny and dry weather expected through next week as high pressure builds back in off the CA coast. It's cold Monday & Tuesday with highs only in the 20s on the mountain, and brisk northeast winds gusting to 30+ mph up top making it feel even colder. Tuesday we could warm slightly at the base into the 30s.
Temperatures warm slightly each day through the rest of the week. Highs into the 40s on the mountain Wednesday-Saturday, and 50's possibly at the base. Expecting lighter winds as well.
Another Cold Front Sunday:
Sunday we could see a cold front move through from the north again just like this past Sunday. We could see gusty winds and snow showers with the passage of the front, and highs dropping into the 30s. This time we may only see a dusting of snow.
The long-range models keep us in a drier pattern into the beginning of the week of the 10th, but they begin to shift the ridge away from the coast with a more active pattern possibly starting around the 12th through mid-month. Right now the storms look to be on the weak side, but we could see below-average temperatures and a weak system every few days.
We will continue to watch the long-range to see if we could possibly see a more significant storm later in the month.
