Cold New Year, Stormy Weekend

Category: Weather
New Year's Eve:

New Year's Eve a cold front moves through with gusty winds and a chance for snow showers. Temperatures drop back into the 20's for Monday and teens on the upper mountain. Upper mountain winds to 60+ mph and up to 90+ mph on the top ridges will cause lift closures and very cold wind chills.

Tuesday-Friday:

We start to clear and warm Tuesday into the 30's. But winds could still be gusting to 50+ mph up top.

Wednesday high pressure builds in over CA with highs warming into the 40's. Winds becoming light. Expecting a dry pattern to last through Friday.

The Weekend:

By Saturday night the next storm could move in. Some models show a low moving down off the CA coast drawing up moisture from the south. Others show a trough swinging through. Either scenario could bring several inches of snowfall to the mountain through Sunday night.

We will fine tune this storm as we get closer.

Long-Range:

A series of weakening storms could continue to move through CA the week of the 7th.
