Winds are howling up to with ridge gusts over 70 mph. We could see some wind holds for Tuesday. The cold front will push snow into the area by late morning Tuesday. The snowfall is expected to be heaviest during the afternoon and then becoming more showery overnight into Wednesday. We are expecting 5-8 inches at the base of the mountains and 8-14 inches on the mountains by Wednesday morning.
Scattered snow showers are possible Wednesday into Thursday with very cold air in place and highs only in the teens up on the mountains. The low pressure responsible for the storm Tuesday will head East and then back track towards Northern CA again Friday into Saturday. That may bring increased snow showers again with a few more inches of snow possible on the mountains by Saturday.
It looks like a break Sunday into Monday as the low weakens and moves East. Then a large trough pushing into the Eastern Pacific by Monday may start push in several waves next week with continued snowfall by Tuesday through most of the week. These snows could be significant so we will continue to keep watching the trend while we get through this storm.
