1,021 free rides in Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows with Chariot

In an effort to inspire long-term transportation solutions and community collaboration, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows introduced a pilot of the app-based Chariot shuttle service during the holiday period and World Cup events in the 2016-17 season. Chariot, which allows people to book rides on fixed routes or on-demand via its mobile app, provided free service to residents and guests in the Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows neighborhoods, reducing the number of cars on area roads. Following the pilot program, a group of community members have identified a feasible way of funding a Micro Mass Transit District to provide year-round intra-valley shuttle services at no cost to the rider.

We saw an exciting opportunity to help pioneer a new type of transportation for the Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows areas. This is a great way to deliver people the stress-free, safe and convenient ride experience Chariot is known for during the busy holiday season. We look forward to partnering with the innovative team at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows on this service offering and solving for some of the specific mobility challenges local residents and visitors face.”
