Tuesday - Friday:
Expecting mostly sunny skies and milder temperatures through Friday. Temperatures warming into the 40s up top & 50s at the base. Winds dropping off during the day on Tuesday, and then winds could increase again by Thursday into Friday ahead of the next storm, with ridgetop gusts to 40+ mph Thursday and 50+ Friday.
The next system moves in early Saturday morning. We could see snow showers through the day on Saturday and becoming more scattered Saturday night. Snow levels below the base. Highs dropping into the 30s.
The forecast models are not in agreement on total precipitation amounts. Early estimates of 3-6 inches possible by Sunday morning. We will be tracking that all week and fine-tuning the forecast as the models come into better agreement.
Sunday - Tuesday:
Temperatures stay colder Sunday through Tuesday, in the 30s on the mountain to near 40 at the bae for highs. A system sitting off the coast could stream clouds and some moisture into the area during the 3-day period. That will bring the chance for scattered snow showers at times over the mountain if the moisture is able to reach the Sierra. We will continue to fine-tune the forecast as we get closer, but a few inches of additional snowfall could fall on the mountain over the 3 days.
The system off the coast will move into CA around the middle of next week bring the chance for more snow on the mountains. The pattern may remain active through the 3rd week of March with another storm possible for the weekend of the 14th.
