Achieve Tahoe provided 1,920 specialized ski and snowboard lessons to adults and children with disabilities in the 2016-17 season
Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows is home base and proud supporter of Achieve Tahoe, non-profit organization that provides year-round outdoor recreation programs for children and adults with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities. The organization, founded in 1967 and long known as Disabled Sports USA Far West, is the longest operating adaptive sports program in the country, and was designed to provide affordable, inclusive physical and recreational activities that build health and confidence. The Achieve Tahoe Program Center has been based at Alpine Meadows since the early 80’s and annually serves over 650 adults and children with disabilities between winter and summer programs.
Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows allows us to provide opportunities to members of our community with disabilities that would otherwise not be available. In all my experience with Achieve Tahoe—since 1992—I can honestly say that no ‘landlord’ has served us better than the current team at Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows.”
— Haakon Lang-Ree, Executive Director, Achieve Tahoe
