35 Inches With More Snow Friday

Category: Weather

We picked up 3 more inches in the past 24 hours bringing the 3 day total at High Camp to 16 inches.  The total for the week is 35 inches, and 91 inches so far for the season.  Alpine meadows is close with 88 inches so far this season.

We have a break in the snow today before another system brings additional snowfall Friday.  We will be on the tail end of a front pushing into the West Coast.  Snow should begin to fall sometime Friday morning and will end by Friday night.  Total snowfall from this storm is expected to be around 3-6 inches.

Over the weekend high pressure will build in over CA keeping the storms to our North through Tuesday.

On Christmas Eve the high pressure ridge will shift NW towards the Gulf of Alaska.  That will allow a cold trough to push down from Canada into the Western U.S.  The forecast models are showing this system possibly pick up some moisture off the ocean and bring us some snow for Christmas.  We will continue to watch that.

After that we may have a break before stronger storms could break under the ridge over Alaska into CA around the end of the year.
