We saw colder temperatures than expected down to the base of the mountains yesterday as cold air was trapped in the Tahoe basin. It snowed all day at the base of the mountain. At High Camp we picked up 10 inches of snow. That is in addition to the 13 inches we saw over the weekend, so we are close to 2 feet so far this week.
The final round of heavy snowfall is pushing in this morning. Snow levels are currently around 7000 ft., but could drop close to the base with the heaviest precip today. We should see lighter snow showers tonight into Thursday morning. We are expecting 6-10 inches of additional snowfall on the mountain by Thursday morning, with possibly up to a foot at High Camp. We are hoping to hit 3 feet up top for the week!
We could see some more light snow Friday night as a weakening system pushes through. The weekend will be dry before another weak system could brush us with light snow on the mountain Monday.
The next chance for measurable snowfall looks to possibly be next Thursday into Friday as a colder system could push into CA.
